The Biological Sciences teaching major from UFTM is intended to train education professionals who can master the basic content that is taught in primary and secondary schools, as well as the pedagogical methods and techniques. In this way, the trained professionals will be skilled towards the development of strategies that may provide basic education students with a better understanding of nature phenomena, inspiring their scientific spirit and curiosity, what eventually contributes to the formation of conscious and critical citizens who are aware of their social responsibility.
Labor market
The trained professional should be skilled to perform his/her profession with excellence, and must work specially during the last four years of elementary education and basic education high school. Such professionals may also work in the elaboration and coordination of educational projects and pedagogical advice in Biological Sciences for both basic education and informal education. He/she should become a professional who enhances the historical thinking of society and its transformations. In addition, the graduate should also be able to carry on post-graduate studies based on his/her interests.
Admission Options
Sisu - Students who are interested in applying for a place at UFTM must necessarily sign up and attend the tests related to the National Examination of High School Education – Enem.
Transfer students - Intended for UFTM students who are attending related majors, as well as for students from other national or foreign higher education institutions who wish to transfer to the same major or to related majors.
Diploma holders – Intended for candidates who have already completed a higher education major and who are willing to attend a new undergraduate major at UFTM.
